“That was her magic—she could still see the sunset, even on the darkest days.” – Atticus

💜 I’ve been making it more of a habit to take in the sunset. I live so close to the beach but sometimes take this place for granted. What I realized was most people leave right after the sun dips down behind the ocean. But that is really just the beginning. Often the sky becomes even more magical during the time after sunset and before complete darkness. It’s like this sweet and magical time. I was reminded of this recently when I showed up to a bonfire on the beach. It was a little bit after sunset but before complete darkness and the sky was so incredible, pinks, blues, purples painted the heavens and there was just a sliver of the new moon. Breathtaking. As I walked up to the bonfire, I realized that no one there had witnessed this magic as they were snuggled in behind a dune and could not see the expanded view of the sky. They probably watched the sunset and then returned to the fire behind the dune, missing the magic.

I started to wonder how often in life we forget to enjoy the time after the sunset, after the accomplishment, after the big event. How often do you pause to enjoy the after effects of the accomplishment, the date, the special event?

💜Next time you do something that feels special, no matter how big or small, I invite you to take a moment to feel the beauty of it and relish in it for a moment before moving on to the next thing. Let it fill your heart and see how that special time continues to live on within you. 🙏🏼
